Yes, absolutely. What you share with your psychologist remains private and is protected under Australian law and professional ethical standards. We will only share information with others if you provide consent, or if we are legally required to do so in specific circumstances.
Psychologists are not authorised to prescribe medication. However, I often work collaboratively with GPs or psychiatrists when clients choose to explore both medication and therapy as part of their treatment.
Individual therapy sessions at Summit Psychology are 50 minutes in duration.
Our cancellation policy is similar to the airline industry. Once an appointment is booked, that time is reserved just for you. If you are unable to attend, it is often not possible to offer the time to someone else on short notice. To provide fair access to appointments for all clients, we ask for as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.
We require at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. The following fees apply:
More than 48 hours' notice: No Fee
24 to 48 hours' notice: 50% of the session fee
Less than 24 hours' notice or non-attendance: 100% of the session fee
Please note: Medicare and private health rebates cannot be used to cover cancellation fees.
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), also known as a Mental Health Treatment Plan, is part of the Medicare Better Access initiative. If you meet the eligibility criteria, your GP or psychiatrist can create a MHCP and provide a referral to a psychologist.
Most GPs will require a longer consultation to complete the plan. With a valid MHCP and referral, you may be eligible for up to 10 Medicare-subsidised sessions each calendar year. As of 1 July 2025, the current rebate for a general psychologist is $98.95 per session.
At Summit Psychology, the current fees and Medicare rebates for sessions with a registered psychologist are:
Initial consultation (50 minutes): $280.00
Gap fee: $181.05 with a MHCP
Subsequent sessions (50 minutes): $250.00
Gap fee: $151.05 with a MHCP
Yes. To access services at Summit Psychology, we require that you obtain a referral from your GP, even if you are not planning to claim a Medicare rebate. Your GP can also help determine whether you are eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan through the Better Access initiative.

Payments are processed automatically through our secure practice management system. As part of the intake process, you will be asked to provide your credit or debit card details to enable this.
If a payment is unsuccessful, an invoice will be issued after the session with payment due within 14 days. Please note that no further appointments can be booked until the outstanding balance has been paid.
Summit Psychology does not offer bulk billing at this time. If you require a bulk billed service, your GP may be able to recommend a local clinic that offers this option.
If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim a rebate for psychological services depending on your level of cover. We recommend checking with your provider to confirm your eligibility. Receipts are provided after each session to support any claims you make directly with your insurer.
As Summit Psychology is a small private practice, we are unable to invoice third parties to collect payment for your appointments. If you wish to utilise other funding options, you will need to pay us in full at the time of your appointment, and seek reimbursements from your chosen provider.
Summit Psychology does not accept referrals funded through:
WorkSafe (also known as WorkCover)
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
The Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS)
Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)
Yes. I see adults of all genders. Some clients specifically search for a male psychologist in Geelong, and I understand that personal preference can play a role in finding the right fit. What matters most is building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable.
